The mountain of expectation
The mountain of expectation

This weekend, three Audi R8 LMS sports cars will head to Mt Panorama to defend the brand’s 2011 victory on the mountain.
The Audi R8 LMS will race under the cover of two famous Australian animals. The pair of Team Phoenix/Audi Customer Racing Audi R8 LMS race cars will be disguised as a ‘Redback Spider’ and a ‘Kangaroo’.
Australian drivers Craig Lowndes, Warren Luff and Mark Eddy will be driving a white R8 LMS, complete with a graphic of a ‘Redback Spider’ sitting in a black web that covers the entire surface of the car.
The symbolism is of a small but deadly Aussie icon that remains in hiding until provoked.
The International team of Christer Jöns, Christopher Mies and Darryl O’Young will race in a black R8 LMS, with the world famous yellow traffic sign that depicts a kangaroo reproduced on the bodywork. ‘Warning Next 6 km’ is emblazoned on the black bodywork, suggesting that other cars should beware of this Australian icon for the entire length of the Mt Panorama track.
A British team racing in the livery of United Autosports rounds out the trio of sports cars racing for Audi.
The teams will head to Bathurst this week to prepare for Sunday’s grueling event.
Audi Australia will officially launch it’s Facebook page at the event, providing content rich behind the scenes footage and news from the trackside.
